The Minnesota Affidavit and Order for Publication (Harassment) is a legal document used by a plaintiff in the state of Minnesota to officially serve notice to a defendant for a harassment lawsuit. It is filed with the county court and is used to alert the defendant that a lawsuit has been filed against them. It also requires the defendant to appear in court to answer the complaint. The Minnesota Affidavit and Order for Publication (Harassment) includes the plaintiff's name, address, and contact information, the defendant's name, address, and contact information, and the nature of the lawsuit. Once the affidavit is filed with the court, it is then published in a local newspaper for a set period of time, typically three weeks. This gives the defendant a chance to respond to the complaint and to appear in court to answer the allegations. There are two types of Minnesota Affidavit and Order for Publication (Harassment): Publication by Mail and Publication by Posting. Publication by Mail involves sending a copy of the affidavit and order for publication to the defendant's last known address. Publication by Posting involves posting a copy of the affidavit and order for publication in a public place near the defendant's last known address.
