The Missouri Case on Appeal-Request for Legal File Certified Copies is a process that allows those who are appealing a case to get a copy of the legal file from the court. This request must be made to the Missouri Supreme Court Clerk’s Office. There are two types of legal files that can be requested: (1) Certified Copy of the Entire Record, and (2) Certified Copy of Specific Documents. The Certified Copy of the Entire Record includes copies of all documents filed with the court in the case, as well as any orders or opinions issued by the court. The Certified Copy of Specific Documents includes copies of only those documents requested by the appellant, such as the transcript, the appellate brief, the motion for rehearing, or the decision. When making the request, appellants must provide the case name and number, the name of the court, and the date of the decision. They must also include a check or money order for the cost of the certified copies. The Clerk’s Office will charge an additional fee for each certified copy requested. Once the request is received, the Clerk’s Office will process it and send the certified copies to the appellant.
