Missouri Fiscal Note — Private Cost (Excel) is an Excel-based tool developed by the Missouri Department of Economic Development that estimates the private costs associated with a proposed policy or regulation. It is designed to help policymakers evaluate the economic impact of their decisions. It can calculate the cost of a policy or regulation in terms of direct costs (e.g. wages, materials, and other inputs), opportunity costs (e.g. forgone taxes or lost sales/output), and indirect costs (e.g. higher prices and reduced demand). Furthermore, it can also project the economic benefits of a policy or regulation in terms of job and income growth, tax revenues, and other measures of economic activity. There are two types of Missouri Fiscal Note — Private Cost (Excel): the Standard Model and the Advanced Model. The Standard Model is intended for quick and easy estimates of private costs. The Advanced Model is more complex and provides users with more detailed and accurate results.
