The Mississippi Employers Application for Privilege of Paying Compensation As Self Insurer is a document used by employers to apply for the privilege of paying workers’ compensation to their employees without the use of a third-party insurance provider. The application must be completed and signed by the employer, and submitted to the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation CommissionMWCCC). There are two types of Mississippi Employers Application For Privilege of Paying Compensation As Self Insurer: 1) the Full Self-Insurance Application, and 2) the Limited Self-Insurance Application. The Full Self-Insurance Application must be completed by employers who wish to cover all of their workers’ compensation liabilities through self-insurance. The Limited Self-Insurance Application must be completed by employers who wish to cover only certain classes of workers’ compensation liabilities through self-insurance. Both applications require employers to provide detailed information about the business, including financial statements, safety records, and a statement of intent. Upon approval of the application, employers will be issued a Certificate of Self-Insurance.
