The Montana Request for Jurisdiction Assigned Number (MAN) is a unique identifier assigned to each business entity that registers with the Montana Secretary of State. This number is used by the Montana Department of Revenue (FOR) to identify each business entity for tax purposes. Means are required for all types of business entities, including corporations, limited liability companies (LCS), partnerships, and sole proprietorship. There are two different types of Means, depending on the type of business entity: 1) Corporation MAN: This number is assigned to all incorporated business entities in Montana. It is used for filing annual reports, paying taxes, and other business-related activities. 2) LLC MAN: This number is assigned to all limited liability companies in Montana. It is also used for filing annual reports, paying taxes, and other business-related activities. The MAN is an important number to have as it allows businesses to identify themselves with the Montana Department of Revenue. Businesses must obtain an MAN prior to filing any taxes or other business-related activities with the FOR.
