A North Carolina Consent Order Appointing Parenting Coordinator (NC COPY) is a court order that is issued in North Carolina family court proceedings to appoint a qualified parenting coordinator (PC) to assist parties in resolving parenting disputes. The NC COPY outlines the duties and responsibilities of the parent coordinator, which may include mediation, conflict resolution, and the execution of court-ordered parenting plans. The NC COPY also sets forth the parameters of the PC's authority, such as the parties' agreement to abide by the PC's decisions, the limits of the PC's authority, and the PC's obligations to the court. There are two types of NC COPY: Standard Consent Order Appointing Parenting Coordinator, and Limited Consent Order Appointing Parenting Coordinator. The Standard Consent Order is more comprehensive and allows the PC to make binding decisions, while the Limited Consent Order limits the PC's authority and allows the PC to make non-binding recommendations to the parties.
