The North Dakota Oath of Office is an oath of office that is taken by many public officials in the state of North Dakota. The Oath affirms that the official will uphold the state and federal constitutions and faithfully discharge the duties of the office they hold. The Oath of Office is prescribed in the North Dakota Century Code and is typically administered by the Secretary of State or a court clerk. There are three types of North Dakota Oath of Office: Oath of Office for Elected/Appointed State Officials, Oath of Office for Military Officers, and Oath of Office for Notaries Public. The Oath of Office for Elected/Appointed State Officials is taken by the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Auditor, State Treasurer, Commissioner of Agriculture, Commissioner of Insurance, Commissioner of Labor and Human Rights, Supreme Court Justices, District Court Judges, and members of the state legislature. The Oath of Office for Military Officers is taken by members of the National Guard and the North Dakota Air National Guard. The Oath of Office for Notaries Public is taken by all Notaries Public in the state.
