The North Dakota Certificate of Write-In Candidacy/President of the United States is a document required by the Secretary of State in order for a write-in candidate to be considered for the US President. This document must be filed with the Secretary of State's office at least thirty days before the election. It must include the name, address, and party affiliation of the candidate, as well as the name of the elector authorized to cast the write-in ballot. There are two types of North Dakota Certificate of Write-In Candidacy/President of the United States — the Presidential Primary Certificate and the General Election Certificate. The Presidential Primary Certificate is used for write-in candidates running in the primary election, while the General Election Certificate is used for write-in candidates running in the general election. Both certificates must be signed and notarized by the candidate before they can be filed with the Secretary of State.
