The Nebraska Certificate of Proof of Possession is a document issued by the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to serve as proof of ownership of a motor vehicle. It is needed when a vehicle owner needs to transfer the title of the vehicle to a new owner, show proof of ownership for registration or for other purposes. The Nebraska DMV offers three types of Nebraska Certificate of Proof of Possession: a Nebraska Title Certificate, a Nebraska Manufacturer's Statement of Origin, and a Nebraska Application for Certificate of Proof of Possession. The Nebraska Title Certificate is issued when a vehicle is sold or transferred from one owner to another. It contains the vehicle identification number (VIN), make and model of the vehicle, and the name of the current owner. The Nebraska Manufacturer's Statement of Origin is issued for new vehicles purchased from an authorized dealer. It contains the VIN, make and model of the vehicle, and the name of the dealership. The Nebraska Application for Certificate of Proof of Possession is issued for vehicles that have been previously owned and registered in the state of Nebraska. It contains the VIN, make and model of the vehicle, and the name of the current owner.
