The Nebraska Decree of Name Change is a legal document issued by a Nebraska court that formally changes an individual's name. It is issued following a successful name change petition, in which a petitioner must present legal documents and evidence to a court to demonstrate the need and justification for a name change. There are three types of Nebraska Decree of Name Change: Adult Name Change, Minor Name Change, and Foreign Name Change. An Adult Name Change is available to individuals over 18 years of age; a Minor Name Change is available to individuals under 18 years of age; and a Foreign Name Change is available to individuals who have recently immigrated to the United States. The Nebraska Decree of Name Change is an important legal document that grants an individual the legal right to use their new name and provides them with evidence of the name change for official purposes.
