The Nebraska Decree of Paternity, Custody, Parenting Time, and Child Support is a court document that legally establishes the rights and responsibilities of each parent in regard to their child. This includes designating legal paternity, establishing legal custody, setting parenting time, and setting child support. There are three types of Nebraska Decrees of Paternity, Custody, Parenting Time, and Child Support: the Joint Custody Decree, the Sole Custody Decree, and the Split Custody Decree. The Joint Custody Decree is issued when both parents agree to share legal custody of their child. This type of Decree requires both parents to make decisions about their child’s education, health care, and general welfare. It also sets parenting time for each parent, which is often split between parents. The Sole Custody Decree is issued when one parent is granted sole legal custody of a child. This type of Decree grants one parent the right to make all decisions about their child’s education, health care, and general welfare. It also sets parenting time for the other parent. The Split Custody Decree is issued when one parent is granted sole legal and physical custody of one child, while the other parent is granted sole legal and physical custody of another child. This type of Decree sets parenting time for each parent and establishes the legal responsibility for each parent to provide for their child. It also sets child support for each parent.
