The Nebraska Order for Continuing Lien (updated February 2016) is a lien document used to secure a debt or obligation. It is a court-issued document from a Nebraska district court that grants a creditor a security interest in a debtor's property. It is filed in the Register of Deeds office in the county where the debtor resides. The Order for Continuing Lien allows a creditor to collect a debt from the debtor's assets without having to go to court. There are two types of Nebraska Order for Continuing Lien: 1) Construction Lien and 2) Mechanic's Lien. The Construction Lien applies to contractors, subcontractors, laborers, and materials suppliers who provided services for the construction or repair of a building, structure, or improvement. The Mechanic's Lien applies to those who provided services for the repair, alteration, improvement, or supply of materials, labor, or services to a vehicle or other movable property. Both liens stay in effect until the debt is paid in full.
