The Nebraska Release of Garnishee (updated May 2015) is a legal document that gives a creditor permission to take all or a portion of a debtor's wages or assets from a third party (a garnishee) in order to satisfy a debt owed by the debtor. The release can be given to any third party that owes the debtor wages or other assets, such as banks, employers, and other creditors. The document outlines the conditions of the release, such as the amount to be taken from the debtor, how often the payment should be made, and the total amount due. There are three types of Nebraska Release of Garnishee (updated May 2015): Wage Garnishment, Bank Levy, and Lien. A Wage Garnishment is a court order that requires the garnishee to withhold a certain portion of the debtor’s wages each pay period and remit it to the creditor. A Bank Levy is a court order that allows the creditor to seize funds from a debtor’s bank account in order to satisfy the debt. Lastly, a Lien is a legal claim placed on the debtor’s property until the debt is paid in full.
