Title: Nebraska Letter to Inform Debt Collector about Misleading Collection Activity Claiming Affiliation with the United States Introduction: When dealing with debt collectors, it is important to be aware of their actions and ensure that they comply with state and federal laws. In Nebraska, one common violation is a debt collector falsely representing or implying that they are vouched for, bonded by, or affiliated with the United States. This deceptive practice misleads debtors into believing they have the backing or endorsement of a governmental entity. To address this issue, individuals can send a Nebraska Letter informing the debt collector of their false or misleading misrepresentations and requesting immediate corrective action. It has come to my attention that your agency has engaged in false representation or implication that you are vouched for, bonded by, or affiliated with the United States. Such actions mislead debtors and are in violation of state and federal laws. I hereby request that you cease and desist any further false or misleading misrepresentations, either written or verbal, that imply a professional relationship or connection with any United States governmental entity.
