The New Jersey Affidavit in Support of CJF Eligibility is a document used to establish eligibility for the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (CJF). The affidavit must be completed and signed by both parents or legal guardians of a child and filed in the court of jurisdiction in order to establish the legal authority for a court to assert jurisdiction over an out-of-state child custody dispute. The affidavit must include specific information such as the child’s name, date of birth, the state in which the child currently resides, the state in which the child lived in the last six months, and the state in which the child was born. There are two types of New Jersey Affidavit in Support of CJF Eligibility: the UCJF-NJ Affidavit and the UCJF-NJ Affidavit for a Foreign Country. The UCJF-NJ Affidavit is used when the child is a resident of New Jersey, while the UCJF-NJ Affidavit for a Foreign Country is used when the child is a resident of a foreign country. Both affidavits must be completed and signed by both parents or legal guardians of the child and filed in the court of jurisdiction in order to establish the legal authority for a court to assert jurisdiction over an out-of-state child custody dispute.
