New Jersey Certificate of Correction (JCC) is a document issued by the New Jersey Department of Treasury that serves as official proof of a correction to a previously recorded document. It is used to amend errors in legal documents such as deeds, mortgages, and liens. There are two types of NJ CCs: the Certificate of Correction of Deed and the Certificate of Correction of Mortgage. The Certificate of Correction of Deed is used to correct errors in a deed such as incorrect names, incorrect amounts, or improper notarization. The Certificate of Correction of Mortgage is used to correct errors in a mortgage loan such as incorrect names, incorrect amounts, or incorrect dates. Both certificates are issued upon request and must be signed by the County Clerk. Once it is issued, the JCC is recorded in the Office of the County Clerk, and the correction is legally binding.
