The New Jersey Application for Intensive Supervision Program (NJ ISP) is an alternative to incarceration that allows individuals to receive a sentence of probation rather than being committed to a state prison. It is designed to reduce recidivism by providing intensive supervision, case management, and evidence-based treatment services. The NJ ISP is offered through the New Jersey Department of Corrections, and is available to individuals who have been convicted of a crime in the state of New Jersey. The NJ ISP consists of three different types of programs: Basic, Enhanced, and Intensive. Basic NJ ISP provides supervision and case management services, while Enhanced NJ ISP includes specialized services such as substance abuse treatment, vocational training, and mental health treatment. Intensive NJ ISP is the most comprehensive of the three and includes services such as home visits, electronic monitoring, and drug and alcohol testing. In order to be eligible for the NJ ISP, applicants must meet certain criteria, such as being a resident of New Jersey, having a valid driver's license, and having a criminal record that does not include any violent or sexual offenses. Applicants must also complete an application and an interview with a probation officer, and must be approved by the court in order to be accepted into the program. Once accepted into the NJ ISP, individuals must comply with all the terms and conditions of the program, which may include regular meetings with a probation officer, attending court-ordered treatment programs, and/or participating in community service activities. Participants are also required to pay any applicable fees or fines. Failure to comply with the terms of the NJ ISP may result in re-incarceration.
