The New Jersey Application For Commutation is a form issued by the New Jersey Department of Corrections (NJ DOC) that is used to petition for commutation of a sentence. It is available to inmates who have served at least one-third of their minimum sentence and are currently on parole or probation, or who have completed their entire prison sentence. The application must be accompanied by a detailed statement explaining the reasons why the individual believes that the sentence should be commuted. It can also include information on the individual's rehabilitation, community service, and any other mitigating factors that should be considered by the NJ DOC. There are two types of New Jersey Application For Commutation: an Initial Application and a Renewal Application. The Initial Application is used for those who have not yet been approved for commutation, while the Renewal Application is used for those who have already been approved but need to renew their commutation.
