The New Mexico Application For Membership (Criminal Justice Act Panel) is an application submitted by individuals who wish to become members of the New Mexico Criminal Justice Act Panel. It is a panel comprised of attorneys who are appointed to represent indigent defendants in criminal cases. The application process requires an applicant to submit a completed application form, as well as provide a resume, references, and other relevant information. There are two types of membership: Panel Attorney and Public Defender. To be eligible for Panel Attorney membership, an applicant must be a licensed attorney in New Mexico, have completed at least 30 hours of criminal defense training, and be in good standing with the State Bar of New Mexico. To be eligible for Public Defender membership, an applicant must be a licensed attorney in New Mexico, have completed at least 30 hours of criminal defense training, have at least two years of criminal defense experience, and be in good standing with the State Bar of New Mexico.
