The Nevada Affidavit of Service is a legal document used in the state of Nevada to prove that legal documents have been served to the intended parties. The affidavit is usually completed by the person who served the documents and must be notarized in order to be valid. There are two types of Nevada Affidavits of Service: personal service and substituted service. Personal service requires the person who is serving the documents to directly hand the documents to the intended recipient. This can be done by handing the documents directly to the recipient or by leaving the documents with someone at the recipient's home or business who is over 18 years of age. Substituted service requires the person serving the documents to leave the documents with someone at the recipient's home or business who is over 18 years of age and then mail a copy of the documents to the recipient by certified mail. The Nevada Affidavit of Service must contain the date that the documents were served, the name of the person who served the documents, the name of the person to whom the documents were served, the method that was used to serve the documents, and the address where the documents were served. The affidavit must also be signed and notarized by a notary public.
