A New York Notice of Appeal (Civil) is a document filed with the court in order to begin the process of appealing a lower court’s decision. It informs the court of the parties involved in the appeal and the reasons for the appeal. The notice must be filed within 30 days of the lower court’s decision. There are two types of New York Notice of Appeal (Civil): Notice of Appeal from Supreme Court to Appellate Division and Notice of Appeal from Family Court to Appellate Division. The former is used to appeal from a decision made in Supreme Court, while the latter is used to appeal from a decision made in Family Court. A New York Notice of Appeal (Civil) must include the names of the parties involved in the appeal, the case name and number, the court of appeal, the lower court’s decision, and the basis for the appeal. It must also be signed by the appellant or their attorney.
