New York Applications to Open Default Conviction is a program that allows individuals to open and modify previously sealed or closed criminal convictions. This program is offered by the Office of Court Administration in the state of New York. It permits individuals to have their records opened and modified in order to reduce the severity of the conviction or to have it completely removed from their record. The program is available to individuals who have been convicted of non-violent felonies, misdemeanors, and some violations. There are two types of New York Applications to Open Default Conviction: The Certificate of Relief from Disabilities and the Certificate of Good Conduct. The Certificate of Relief from Disabilities is available to individuals who have been convicted of a non-violent felony and have served their sentence, while the Certificate of Good Conduct is available to individuals convicted of a misdemeanor or a violation. Both Certificates provide relief from the collateral consequences of criminal convictions, such as employment, licensing, and housing.
