New York Consent to Adult Adoption By Spouse is a form of adoption wherein an adult is adopted by their spouse. This form of adoption is available in New York and requires the consent of both the adult and their spouse. In order to complete the adoption process, the spouse must sign a Consent to Adopt form and also submit a number of required documents, such as a Certificate of Marriage, a Certificate of Adoption, and a Certificate of Domestic Partnership. There are two different types of Consent to Adult Adoption by Spouse available in New York: Voluntary Adoption and Involuntary Adoption. Voluntary Adoption is when the adult adopted willingly consents to the adoption process. Involuntary Adoption is when the adult adopted is unable or unwilling to provide consent.
