The New York Application to Join the Roster of Neutrals is an application form used by attorneys and mediators to gain admission to the New York State Unified Court System’s Roster of Neutrals. This application is the first step for an attorney or mediator to become an approved neutral under the New York State Dispute Resolution Program. The application is available in two forms, the New York Attorney to Join the Roster of Neutrals and the New York Mediator to Join the Roster of Neutrals. The New York Attorney to Join the Roster of Neutrals is for attorneys who wish to be included in the roster of neutrals for the purpose of providing legal representation in court-sponsored mediation or arbitration proceedings. The New York Mediator to Join the Roster of Neutrals is for mediators who wish to be included in the roster of neutrals for the purpose of providing mediation services in court-sponsored mediation or arbitration proceedings. The application requires applicants to submit a completed application form, along with supporting documents such as a resume, a list of professional references, and a copy of an official transcript from an accredited law school. The application also requires applicants to submit a $150 application fee, which is non-refundable. In addition, applicants must demonstrate that they have experience in the practice of law, or, in the case of mediators, experience in the practice of mediation. Once the application is approved, applicants will be included on the Roster of Neutrals and will be eligible to serve as neutrals in court-sponsored proceedings.
