The New York Affidavit of Compliance For Disbarred Or Suspended Attorneys is a document that must be signed by a disbarred or suspended attorney who wishes to continue practicing law in the state of New York. This document states that the attorney is aware of the disciplinary action taken against them, and that they will abide by any restrictions placed upon them as part of the disciplinary action. This document also acknowledges that the attorney is aware of the consequences if they fail to comply with the restrictions. There are two types of New York Affidavit of Compliance For Disbarred Or Suspended Attorneys. These are the "Affidavit of Compliance of Disbarred Attorneys" and the "Affidavit of Compliance of Suspended Attorneys". The Affidavit of Compliance of Disbarred Attorneys must be filed with the New York State Office of Court Administration within thirty days of the effective date of the disbarment.
