A New York Abstract of Driving Record is a document issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) that provides a summary of an individual's driving history. It is used by employers, law enforcement, insurance companies and other organizations to assess an individual’s ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. There are two types of New York Abstracts of Driving Record: a five-year record and a certified record. The five-year record provides information on an individual’s driving record from the past five years, including traffic violations, points, suspensions, revocations, and accident history. The certified record includes all of this information in addition to the individual’s personal information, such as address, license number, and date of birth.
