The New York Driving School License Application is a process that must be completed in order to become a licensed New York driving school instructor. The application must be approved by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles in order to be valid. There are two types of New York Driving School License Applications: a Full License and a Temporary License. The Full License requires the applicant to submit a completed application form, proof of completion of the DMV-approved driving school instructor course, and a $50 fee. Upon approval, the applicant will receive a Certificate of Licensure which is valid for four years. The Temporary License requires the applicant to submit a completed application form, proof of completion of the DMV-approved driving school instructor course, and a $25 fee. Upon approval, the applicant will receive a Temporary Certificate of Licensure which is valid for one year. The Temporary Certificate of Licensure must be renewed annually in order to remain valid. Both types of New York Driving School License Applications require the applicant to pass a background check and provide proof of identity and residence. The applicant must also have a valid driver’s license and meet all other requirements as determined by the DMV.
