New York Disposition For Junk And Salvage Vehicles (NODES) refers to the process of disposing of vehicles that are no longer considered roadworthy. This includes cars, trucks, buses, and motorcycles that are beyond repair or no longer operable. The most common types of NODES are: Junk Vehicles, Salvage Vehicles, and Abandoned Vehicles. Junk Vehicles are defined as any vehicle that is not capable of operation or repair and is over ten years old, while Salvage Vehicles are vehicles that have been declared a total loss as a result of an accident, fire, flood, or other event. Abandoned Vehicles are ones that have been left on public property for more than 24 hours without being moved. NODES provides a way for these vehicles to be responsibly disposed of, and can include scrapping, crushing, dismantling, and recycling.
