New York Military Discharge Request is a document used to request a discharge from active or reserve military service. There are four types of New York Military Discharge Request: Honorable Discharge, General Discharge, Other Than Honorable Discharge, and Entry Level Separation. An Honorable Discharge is awarded to service members who have served their country with distinction and have met all the requirements of their period of service. A General Discharge is awarded to service members who have fulfilled their enlistment requirements, but may have been discharged for a minor offense. An Other Than Honorable Discharge is a discharge for misconduct or for a pattern of behavior that led to disciplinary action. An Entry Level Separation is a discharge granted to service members who have not completed their initial enlistment period and may not have met the standards of their enlistment.
