The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offers two types of Application for Driver License or Non-Driver Identification Card: the Application for Driver License or Non-Driver Identification Card (Form MV-44) and the Enhanced Driver License/Enhanced Non-Driver Identification Card Application (Form MV-44EDL). The Application for Driver License or Non-Driver Identification Card (Form MV-44) is used for applying for a standard New York State Driver License, as well as a standard Non-Driver Identification Card. The form requires applicants to provide personal information such as name, address, and contact information. Applicants must also provide proof of identification and residency, and a signature. The Enhanced Driver License/Enhanced Non-Driver Identification Card Application (Form MV-44EDL) is used for applying for an Enhanced Driver License or an Enhanced Non-Driver Identification Card. This form requires more detailed information than the standard form, such as social security number, date of birth, and citizenship status. In addition, applicants must provide additional documents to prove their identity and residency. Applicants must also have their photograph taken, and provide a signature. Both forms are available online or at any local DMV office.
