A New York Case Scheduling Order — City Cases is a document issued by the New York City Civil Court that sets out the timeline for the progress of a civil case. The order establishes when the parties must appear in court, when they must submit pleadings and other documents, and when the case will be ready for trial or mediation. There are two types of New York Case Scheduling Orders — City Cases: Pre-Trial Scheduling Order and Mediation Scheduling Order. The Pre-Trial Scheduling Order is issued when a case is filed and sets out the timeline for the parties to exchange documents, attend conferences and hearings, and prepare for trial. The Mediation Scheduling Order is issued after the Pre-Trial Scheduling Order and sets out the timeline for the parties to meet with a court-appointed mediator to attempt to settle the case. Both types of orders are issued by the court and must be followed in order for the case to progress.
