New York Answer (In Person) is a service provided by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. This service allows taxpayers to meet with tax experts in person to get answers to their tax questions and resolve issues. The service is available at certain Taxpayer Service Centers throughout the state. Taxpayers can also use New York Answer (In Person) to resolve tax liens, file amended returns, and set up payment plans. There are four main types of New York Answer (In Person): Phone Assistance, Live Chat Assistance, Online Assistance, and Taxpayer Service Centers. Phone Assistance allows taxpayers to speak directly with a tax expert over the phone. Live Chat Assistance allows taxpayers to communicate with a tax expert via text messaging. Online Assistance provides taxpayers with online forms and resources to help them complete their taxes. Taxpayer Service Centers provide taxpayers with an in-person experience, allowing them to meet face-to-face with a tax expert.
