New York Facility Requirements — Inspection Stations are facilities that are established and maintained by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NASDAQ) to inspect and verify the safety and compliance of motor vehicles. These stations are responsible for ensuring that vehicles are in compliance with all applicable safety and emissions regulations. There are four types of Inspection Stations in the New York State: Vehicle Safety Inspection Stations, Emissions Inspection Stations, Salvage Inspection Stations, and Fleet/Lease Inspection Stations. Vehicle Safety Inspection Stations are responsible for conducting safety inspections of motor vehicles and inspecting for any visible defects in the vehicle. Emissions Inspection Stations are responsible for conducting emissions testing of motor vehicles and ensuring that the vehicle meets the emissions standards set by the NASDAQ. Salvage Inspection Stations are responsible for inspecting vehicles with salvage titles to verify that the vehicle has been properly repaired and is safe for operation. Fleet/Lease Inspection Stations are responsible for inspecting vehicles that are owned by fleet owners, commercial entities, and/or leased operators. All of these New York Facility Requirements — Inspection Stations must be certified and approved by the NASDAQ in order to operate.
