Oklahoma Opening Instruction is an instructional program that provides quality instruction to students in prekindergarten through eighth grade in the state of Oklahoma. It is based on the Oklahoma Academic Standards, which are designed to ensure that students have the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in college and the workforce. The Oklahoma Opening Instruction program includes three main components: instruction, assessment, and intervention. Instruction includes direct instruction, small group instruction, and activities that promote learning. Assessment includes formative and summative assessments that measure student progress. Intervention includes targeted instruction, remediation, and extension activities to support student learning. The three types of Oklahoma Opening Instruction are Prekindergarten, Elementary, and Middle School.
