Oklahoma Malicious Intimidation or Harassment — Elements is a criminal offense in the state of Oklahoma. This offense is defined as when someone knowingly and willfully communicates, in writing or by verbal or electronic communication, a threat to another person in order to coerce, intimidate, or harass them. Additionally, this offense may include making a false statement or representation about another person in order to cause them emotional distress or to put them in fear of physical harm. The elements of this offense include: 1. The offender must have knowingly and willfully communicated a threat or false statement to another person. 2. The offender’s intention in making the communication must have been to coerce, intimidate, or harass the other person. 3. The other person must have suffered emotional distress or fear of physical harm as a result of the communication. The penalties for this offense are determined by the severity of the threat or false statement, as well as the nature of the victim. This offense is punishable by up to one year in prison and/or a fine of up to $500.
