Oklahoma Obscene, Threatening, or Harassing Electronic Communications — Elements is the criminal law in Oklahoma which prohibits communication of any type (including but not limited to email, text, and social media) that is obscene, threatening, or harassing in nature. The law applies to any electronic communication that is made with the intent to annoy, alarm, or harass another person, or to cause them to be fearful of harm or injury. It includes any language that is lewd, lascivious, profane, or indecent; any communication that threatens physical harm or injury to a person or their property; or any communication that is made with the intent to intimidate or harass another person. There are two types of Oklahoma Obscene, Threatening, or Harassing Electronic Communications — Elements: misdemeanor and felony. A misdemeanor offense is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500; a felony offense is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
