Oklahoma Accelerated Docket Waiver (OAD) is a program designed to expedite the processing of criminal cases in Oklahoma. It allows for certain criminal cases to be heard sooner than usual and, in some cases, may allow for a faster resolution and a more favorable outcome for the defendant. OAD is available for misdemeanor and felony cases and can be requested by either the defendant or the prosecutor. There are two types of Oklahoma Accelerated Docket Waiver: (1) Accelerated Docket Waiver for Misdemeanors and (2) Accelerated Docket Waiver for Felonies. The Accelerated Docket Waiver for Misdemeanors allows for a quicker resolution of misdemeanor cases by allowing the judge to set a trial date within 15 days of the request. The Accelerated Docket Waiver for Felonies allows for a quicker resolution of felony cases by allowing the judge to set a trial date within 30 days of the request. In order for a defendant to be eligible for the OAD program, they must meet certain requirements. The defendant must have no pending charges in any other jurisdiction, must not have a prior felony conviction, and must not have any prior convictions for violent offenses. Additionally, the defendant must be willing to accept responsibility for their actions and must have the financial resources to pay any fines or court costs that may be imposed.
