Oklahoma Recall is a process by which an elected official can be removed from office before the end of their term. It is a form of direct democracy in which the citizens of the state of Oklahoma can initiate a recall election by petition. If enough signatures are collected, a recall election is held in which voters decide whether to remove the incumbent from office. There are two types of recall in Oklahoma: legislative recall, in which state legislators can be recalled, and executive recall, in which the governor, lieutenant governor, and other statewide elected officials may be recalled. To initiate a recall, supporters must collect signatures from registered voters in the district or state, depending on the type of recall. Once the signatures are collected and verified, an election is held to decide whether to remove the incumbent from office.
