An Oklahoma Emergency Order of Protection is a legal order issued by the court to protect a victim of domestic violence, stalking, or harassment. This order can be issued ex parte, meaning without a hearing, and can provide protection for a period of up to 15 days. The order can include provisions such as restraining the abuser from contacting or coming near the victim, or allowing the victim access to the home or other shared property. There are two types of Oklahoma Emergency Order of Protection: a Full Order of Protection and a Temporary Order of Protection. A Full Order of Protection is valid for up to one year and includes all the provisions of a Temporary Order of Protection. A Temporary Order of Protection is valid for up to 15 days and may include provisions such as ordering the abuser to stay away from the victim, their home, or their work, or ordering the abuser to turn over any firearms they possess.
