The Oklahoma Petition for Protective Order is a legal document used to obtain an order from the court to protect the individual listed on the petition from physical or emotional harm. The petition can be filed by the individual seeking protection or by another party on their behalf. There are three types of protective orders in Oklahoma: Domestic Abuse, Stalking and Harassment, and Sexual Assault. The Domestic Abuse Petition is used to provide protection from physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse from a current or former household member. The Stalking and Harassment Petition is used to provide protection from unwanted contact, such as threatening or harassing behavior, from another person. The Sexual Assault Petition is used to provide protection from sexual assault and/or abuse. All Oklahoma Protective Order petitions must be signed by a judge and provide the petitioner with a right to a hearing.
