Oklahoma Order to take Minor Children into Emergency Custody is a court order issued by the Oklahoma State Court when there is an immediate need to remove children from their home or other unsafe environment. The order is issued in circumstances that threaten the safety, health, and welfare of a minor child, such as a home where there is physical or sexual abuse, neglect or abandonment, or a home where drugs or alcohol are present. There are two types of Oklahoma Order to take Minor Children into Emergency Custody: an Emergency Custody Order (ECO) and an Immediate Removal Order (IRON). An Emergency Custody Order is issued by a judge for a maximum period of four days, while an Immediate Removal Order is issued by a judge for a period of up to one week. Both orders allow for the removal of a minor child from their home to a safe environment, and both require that the child’s parents be notified of the order.
