The Oregon Notice of Agricultural Produce Lien (APL-1) is a document that allows an agricultural producer to secure a lien on the crops, livestock, or other agricultural products that are produced on their land. This lien serves as a form of collateral to guarantee payment for the cost of production, such as seeds, fertilizer, feed, and labor, among other expenses. This lien must be filed with the Oregon Secretary of State before the agricultural products are sold or moved off the premises. There are two types of Oregon Notice of Agricultural Produce Lien (APL-1): the APL-1 for crops and the APL-1 for livestock. The APL-1 for crops is used to create a lien on crops, including fruits, vegetables, grains, and hay. The APL-1 for livestock is used to create a lien on livestock, such as cows, pigs, sheep, and horses. Both forms must be signed by the agricultural producer and filed with the Oregon Secretary of State in order to be valid.
