Oregon Request For Mediation (6H) is a program offered by the Oregon State Bar that helps parties resolve disputes through mediation. Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), which allows parties to work together to come to a resolution without going to court. In Oregon, the 6H program provides an informal and economical way for parties to resolve disputes in a confidential and neutral setting. There are two types of Oregon Request For Mediation (6H): voluntary mediation and court-ordered mediation. In voluntary mediation, the parties choose to mediate their dispute and may or may not have the guidance of an attorney. In court-ordered mediation, the parties are ordered by the court to attend mediation and may have the assistance of an attorney. Mediation is a cost-effective, efficient, and non-adversarial way to resolve disputes.
