Oregon Vocational Assistance Individual Certification (OVAL) is a certification program that provides vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities. It is designed to help individuals with disabilities obtain employment or pursue further education and training. OVAL certification is granted to qualified individuals who meet the criteria set forth by the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS). There are two main types of Oregon Vocational Assistance Individual Certification. The first type is the Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CORP) certification, which is open to individuals who are employed or have experience in the field of vocational rehabilitation. The second type is the Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Practitioner (CORP) certification, which is open to individuals who are not employed in the field of vocational rehabilitation. In order to become certified, individuals must meet the eligibility requirements, which include completing an approved course of study, completing a practicum, and passing a written and/or oral examination. Once certified, individuals are required to complete ongoing professional development activities in order to maintain their certification. OVAL certification is an important step in helping individuals with disabilities pursue employment and educational opportunities. It provides individuals with the necessary qualifications and credentials to work in the field of vocational rehabilitation and helps them gain access to resources and support services.
