Oregon Request For Board Review (ORB) is a process used by the Oregon Board of Education to consider appeals of certain decisions made by state and local schools. Orbs include appeals of decisions made by school boards, district administrators, or other school officials. Orbs may be filed by a student, parent, or other interested party. There are two types of Orbs: a Request for Review of a School District's Decision (RED) and a Request for Review of a State Board Decision (ROB). An RED is used to appeal a decision of a school district, such as a disciplinary action or a denial of admission. An ROB is used to appeal a decision of the Oregon State Board of Education, such as a decision on a policy or rule. Orbs must be filed within 30 days of the school district or state board decision. Parties must provide evidence and argument in support of their request. The Board will then review the case and issue a decision.
