Description

Campaign Finance Statement

The Pennsylvania Campaign Finance Statement is a document that candidates and political committees must submit to the Pennsylvania Department of State in order to comply with the state's campaign finance laws. It provides detailed financial information about political campaigns, including contributions received, expenditures made, and debt incurred. The Pennsylvania Campaign Finance Statement must be filed by all candidates for public office and political committees, including political action committees (PACs) and political party committees, who receive or expend more than $250 in a calendar year. There are four types of Pennsylvania Campaign Finance Statement: the Statement of Organization, the Preselection Report, the Post-Election Report, and the Final Report. The Statement of Organization must be filed within 10 days of receiving contributions or making expenditures for the campaign. The Preselection Report is due two weeks before the election. The Post-Election Report is due 30 days after the election and includes a summary of all contributions and expenditures made during the campaign. The Final Report is due four months after the election and includes a summary of all contributions received, expenditures made, and debt incurred.

FAQ

Soft money (sometimes called non-federal money) means contributions made outside the limits and prohibitions of federal law. This means that it is direct corporate and union contributions and large individual and PAC contributions.

In the United States, a political action committee (PAC) is a 527 organization that pools campaign contributions from members and donates those funds to campaigns for or against candidates, ballot initiatives, or legislation. The legal term PAC was created in pursuit of campaign finance reform in the United States.

All contributions to federal candidates from nonconnected committees are subject to limits. Super PACs cannot make contributions, and a Hybrid PAC cannot use funds from its non-contribution account to make a contribution.

??PAC? here refers to a committee that makes contributions to other federal political committees. Independent-expenditure-only political committees (sometimes called ?Super PACs?) may accept unlimited contributions, including from corporations and labor organizations.

Under the presidential public funding program, eligible presidential candidates receive federal government funds to pay for the qualified expenses of their political campaigns in both the primary and general elections.

As nonconnected committees that solicit and accept unlimited contributions from individuals, corporations, labor organizations and other political committees, Super PACs and Hybrid PACs do not make contributions to candidates.

Your PAC Statement is not a professional biography that talks about your history. Rather a PAC Statement is a one page document that should be aimed at linking your previous experiences and qualifications to your potential for promotion and higher responsibility in the future.
