Pennsylvania Clearance of Document [DSC:15-152(1)] is a process administered by the Pennsylvania Department of State, Bureau of Commissions, Elections and Legislation to review proposed documents and/or changes to existing documents prior to their actual submission. This clearance process ensures that documents meet all applicable state laws and regulations and also provides an opportunity for the Department to provide comments and feedback on the proposed changes. There are two types of Pennsylvania Clearance of Document [DSC:15-152(1)]: (1) Clearance of Election-Related Documents and (2) Clearance of Non-Election Related Documents. The Clearance of Election-Related Documents includes documents such as voter registration applications, absentee ballot applications, and election-related forms. The Clearance of Non-Election Related Documents includes documents such as proposed changes to election laws, regulations, and procedures.
