A Pennsylvania Notice of Appeal is a document filed with the court to initiate an appeal process in the state of Pennsylvania. The notice — which must be filed within 30 days of the final judgment or order being appealed — informs the court that the appellant (the party making the appeal) is appealing from the judgment or order of the lower court to the appellate court. There are two types of Pennsylvania Notice of Appeal: a Notice of Appeal from the Court of Common Pleas and a Notice of Appeal from a Magisterial District Judge. The Notice of Appeal must include the name and address of the appellant and appealed (the party against whom the appeal is being made); the docket number of the lower court case; and the legal arguments for the appeal. The Notice of Appeal must also be accompanied by a filing fee, which varies depending on the type of appeal.
