Pennsylvania Approved Newspapers are publications that have been officially authorized to publish legal notices in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Examples of such notices include public notices, court notices, and executive orders. These publications must meet certain criteria in order to be recognized as Pennsylvania Approved Newspapers, including having a regular publication schedule, a circulation of at least 2,500 copies, and an office of publication located in Pennsylvania. Common types of Pennsylvania Approved Newspapers include daily newspapers, weekly newspapers, and legal newspapers. Daily newspapers are published at least five days a week and must have a circulation of at least 5,000 copies. Weekly newspapers are published at least once a week and must have a circulation of at least 2,500 copies. Legal newspapers are published at least once a month and must have a circulation of at least 500 copies. All three of these types of newspapers are required to be published in Pennsylvania and must meet the other criteria outlined by the Pennsylvania Department of State.
