Pennsylvania Private Criminal Complaint is a type of criminal complaint that is initiated by an individual, and not by the police or a district attorney. This type of complaint is used when a person believes that they have been the victim of a criminal act, and they wish to pursue the matter themselves. There are two types of Pennsylvania Private Criminal Complaint- misdemeanor and felony. In a misdemeanor complaint, an individual alleges that another person has committed a misdemeanor offense, such as theft or vandalism. In a felony complaint, an individual alleges that another person has committed a felony offense, such as assault or burglary. In either case, the individual must provide evidence to support the allegations. If the complaint is deemed to be valid, a court date will be set and the accused will be asked to appear in court and answer the charges.
